Painkiller sales in Kent get Atwater woman probation, fines

An Atwater woman has been sentenced to probation for illegally selling prescription painkillers in Kent.

Theresa Y. Harris, 36, of 6278 York St., recently was sentenced by Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman to five years probation and 53 days in the Portage County jail, with credit for 53 days served awaiting trial. Harris pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, in December.

Pittman ordered Harris to get a substance abuse evaluation, find a full-time job within six months, pay $350 in fines and $150 restitution to the Portage County Drug Task Force.

Harris, formerly of 717 Silver Meadows Blvd., Kent, was indicted in October on three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one second-degree and two third-degree felonies, for illegally selling the painkillers oxymorphone and oxycodone in the vicinity of juveniles in July and September 2012.
