Work on Kent gas line continues

Dominion East Ohio workers were out in full force on Stow Street in Kent Wednesday following a rupture in a gas line last week. A Dominion East Ohio spokesman said workers shut service off to the line last Wednesday after a FirstEnergy crew hit it while doing unrelated utility work. Crews returned to the scene today to replace the damaged steel piping with 270 feet of plastic, which is more corrosion-resistant. Service to customers was not interrupted, because a second line runs parallel to the damaged line.
