Hiram College to host exchange program

Hiram College will host a summer international exchange program for undergraduate and graduate degree candidates from India, focusing on global business management, business IT and e-commerce in the summer of 2013.

The program will be presented in partnership with 9Global Institute of Applied Technology Inc., a global educational services and placement company based in Cleveland and New Delhi, India. 9Global is coordinating relationships with several universities in India who will be sending 100 students to participate in the program. Students will attend workshops in a variety of business related topics coupled with cultural and global business experiences outside the classroom.

"This program will be a powerful opportunity for international students to explore American business, technology, culture, and education firsthand. Northeast Ohio is one of the largest global economic centers and provides excellent opportunities to engage with world-class education, manufacturing, agricultural, healthcare, and information technology organizations," said Thomas V. Chema, president of Hiram College.

"We are honored to be partnering with 9Global to provide a unique, engaging, and globally-focused training program."

The exchange program is designed to give the international students a taste of the American diverse education practices and liberal arts experience that fit with their aspirations and career paths in global professional environment.

"Hiram has always been a leader in providing educational programs that challenge students to think differently, solve complex problems, and connect learning to real world situations," said Paul Bowers, Dean of Extended Learning for Hiram College. "This program will give students a first-hand look at the cutting edge in business, technology, culture, and learning."

The program, which will run from June, through August, 2013, and will offer visiting undergraduate, and masters candidates workshops with Hiram faculty in the areas of English comprehension, business management, information technology, management of multinational corporations, and internet marketing. The students will live on the Hiram campus, and will visit other universities, attend cultural events, visit landmarks and interact with businesses and business leaders in northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania and beyond.
