Mantua woman dies from injuries after crash in Shalersville

A Mantua woman died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a one-car crash in Shalersville in February.

According to a press release from the Ravenna Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Joan I. Buchert, 76, was driving southbound on S.R. 44 near Webb Road on Feb. 28 when her car left the road and struck a mailbox, a ditch and then a tree. She was transported from the scene to Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, then moved to Akron City Hospital for further treatment.

She died nearly two weeks later from her injuries.

Buchert's death is the third traffic-related fatality in Portage County this year.
