Akron -- The Summit County Bomb Squad responded to Meggitt Braking Systems, 1204 Massillon Road, around 8 a.m. March 15 after a worker discovered two bottles of picric acid which had begun to leak and crystallize.
The business, which uses the acid to treat metals, was evacuated for more than three hours while bomb squad technicians neutralized the acid, according to Inspector William Holland of the Summit County Sheriff's Department.
In its crystallized state, the acid was "highly explosive," Holland said.
Employees were allowed back into the business shortly after 11:30 a.m., Holland said.
