Kent mayor delivers meals

Published:

Kent Mayor Jerry Fiala hands a frozen meal to Jimmie Adkins, part of her weekly Mobile Meals delivery. Fiala was participating in the March for Meals campaign for Mobile Meals, in which mayors of area communities show their support for their community's homebound seniors. "It means a lot to me. It means I don't have to worry about what I'm going to eat," Adkins said of the program. Adkins said she no longer drives and the meals program is helping her remain in the home she's lived in for 43 years. Mobile Meals delivers frozen meals to clients in Portage County. It has served communities in Northeast Ohio for 42 years. More than 2,500 meals are delivered to the homes of children, the disabled and the elderly each day by volunteers and staff.
