A Kent woman faces up to 18 months in prison and registration as a sex offender after pleading guilty to a charge she had sexual contact with a juvenile male family member between September 2006 and December 2008.

Nichole R. Costa, aka Nichole Metzler, 36, of 143 S. Prospect St., pleaded guilty in Portage County Common Pleas Court to one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, on March 26 -- the day her trial was scheduled to begin in Judge Laurie Pittman's courtroom.

Costa was indicted by a Portage County grand jury on five counts of sexual battery, all third-degree felonies, in November 2011. The indictment was amended and the remaining counts dismissed on a motion by the Portage County Prosecutor's Office at the time of Costa's plea.

A Portage County Sheriff's Office investigation revealed that between Sept. 13, 2006, and Dec. 31, 2008, Costa engaged in sexual activity with a juvenile male who was between the ages of 15 and 17 at the time, according to court records and her indictment.
