Kent City School students learned about the significance of the Cuyahoga River and its surrounding ecosystem Friday during the Kent Environmental Council's annual River Day celebration. Volunteers from the Portage Park District, city of Kent, Kent State University's Crooked River Adventure Center and Kent schools took turns teaching students about water flow, wildlife, water testing, water safety and more. River Day will continue from 10 a.m. to noon today at Plum Creek Park, at the corner of Cherry and Mogadore streets in Kent. To see more photos from Friday's celebration, visit www.recordpub.com.
