Saturday afternoon's rain was so heavy that roadways, including S.R. 59 in Kent, above, flooded. In addition to torrential rains, a tornado reportedly touched down in the 400 block of Old Forge Road in Brimfield Saturday afternoon, according to Brimfield police. Police Chief David Oliver wrote on the department's Facebook page that there appeared to be trees down and some damage to a barn in that area. No injuries were immediately reported. "The roads are clear and power seems to be okay," he wrote just before 5:45 p.m. Brimfield residents earlier reported hail in the area. A heavy rain fell in Kent starting shortly before 5 p.m. Tornado sirens were heard in the Kent area, and some city residents received an emergency alert from Kent police notifying them of severe weather.
