Voting opens in Field levy special election

Early voting has begun for the Aug. 6 special election in the Field Local School District.

The district is asking for approval of a three-year, 5.5-mill additional levy (4 mills for current expenses and 1.5 mills for ongoing permanent improvements.

Voters may cast their ballots in person at the Portage County Board of Elections in the county administration building, 449 S. Meridian St., Ravenna, or request an absentee ballot application.

The elections board said 14 precincts are involved: Kent 3A/2 and 3C/2; Brimfield A, B, C/1, D, E/1, F, G and Suffield A/1, B, C/1, D and E/1.

Two precincts will have temporary polling locations for the special election. Kent 3A/2 and Kent 3C/2 will vote at the American Legion (Kent 3C/2 regular location) for this election only. Kent 3A/2 voters (16 now registered) will receive a temporary polling location move card and a letter from the board of elections office explaining the temporary move and offer absentee voting as another alternative to cast their ballot. New voters have until Monday to register for the special election.
