The steel is up and concrete is being poured at the new Portage County Municipal Courthouse being built in the 300 block of East Main Street in Kent. The two-story courthouse is expected to open in January 2014. The new structure will replace the current courthouse on South Water Street, which is a former U.S. Post Office building.

  • I've never be more proud to be a life long Kent resident and I'm more than willing to pay increases considering the quality of life being provided by both the City and the University. You all are welcome to move to the wonderful city of Ravenna ;)

  • Like it or not I think there's going to be a new police building in Kent no matter what we vote at levy time. They have made that one pretty clear. The taxpayers will foot the bill either way.

  • Don't forget to put in the revolving door and road maps to Warren...

  • I agree with Pooh, or atleast combind the courthouse and police department.

  • I still say make this building the new police station that we are getting shoved down our throats by our "Ruller", and put the courts back in Ravenna where they belong.  There is a big problem solved with no new taxes needed.
