Streetsboro — Route 303 from Superior Avenue to Diagonal Road was reopened at about 3:15 p.m., following a closure of a little more than two hours, due to a house fire at 1856 Route 303.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries, said Streetsboro Fire Lt. Brian Novotny.
Novotny said it appeared the fire started on the back deck, then spread through the main floor of the house, burning off much of the roof and causing damage throughout the home.
"We know [someone] was cooking something, maybe ribs, out on the back deck, and we're assuming that was the cause," he said. However, he said the blaze could be connected to cooking on the stove, as well, adding that the cause remains under investigation.
The Streetsboro Fire Department was called to the scene at 12:25 p.m., according to Streetsboro Police. At about 1 p.m., Route 303 was closed traffic to make room for firefighting operations.
