The United Way of Portage County has named Brian D. Duchon as president and chief executive officer, effective Aug. 26.
Duchon succeeds Steve Kleiber who resigned effective May 24.
"We received an incredible level of interest from highly qualified candidates," said Suzanne Howe, chairman of the board of directors for United Way of Portage County and vice president eGovernment Settlement Services for the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank. "After a detailed search process, we are confident that Brian brings the experience and energy to United Way to lead us through the next decade and beyond," Howe said.
Duchon's previous position was with the United Way of Frederick, Md., as the community impact director.
He participated in the United Way Global Fellowship Program, a year-long development program which focuses on the United Way business model and community impact.
Duchon interned at the United Way of Summit county, working his way up to the assistant vice president of campaign operations.
He earned a masters degree of public administration from the University of Akron in 2010.
