A Cuyahoga Falls 18-year-old is in custody on charges including attempted aggravated murder and kidnapping after he allegedly bound and assaulted a Falls woman until she passed out on Sept. 8.
Alexander P. Cooper of Cuyahoga Falls was arrested shortly after Cuyahoga Falls Police responded at 5:19 a.m. Sept. 8 to a Third Street residence on a reported robbery, according to a Falls Police news release. A 54-year-old woman reported Cooper broke into her home through a side door, threatened to kill her and assaulted her to the point she lost consciousness.
She was tied up, and several of her belongings were removed, police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is recovering from her injuries. Her condition is unknown.
The woman recognized Cooper, Lt. Steve Guldeman, head of the Falls Police Detetive Bureau, told the Falls News-Press.
Cooper was apprehended by Stow Police a short time later and handed over to Falls Police, Guldeman said.
Falls Police charged Cooper with attempted aggravated murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary. He was booked in the Cuyahoga Falls Jail.
He was later transferred to Summit County Jail due to the seriousness of the charges, Guldeman said.
Cooper is currently in the Summit County Jail awaiting arraignment at Stow Municipal Court, the police lieutenant added.
