A Stow man who allegedly broke into a neighbor’s apartment and sexually assaulted her Friday was captured Sunday, according to a Stow police press release.
On Sunday at 10:33 a.m., a call was made from a bank employee inside the Walmart in Brimfield to the Stow Police Department advising that Filip Konstantinovich, 49, was a known customer of the bank and he was inside WalMart.
Officers arrived and searched the store and parking lot for his vehicle. A Tallmadge police officer located the car in the lot with Konstantinovich in the car. Konstantinovich left the lot in his vehicle and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ended when Konstantinovich crashed his vehicle into a utility pole. He was uninjured and immediately taken into custody by Tallmadge and Brimfield police officers.
Konstantinovich had been sought for a sexual assault in Stow. He was charged with rape and aggravated burglary, first-degree felonies.
Stow Police took custody of him and he was taken to the Stow City Jail for processing. After booking, he will be transported to the Summit County Jail. A video arraignment will be done at the Stow Municipal Court this morning at 11 a.m.
