A Tallmadge man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge resulting from a fatal traffic crash on Trares Road in Suffield in March that killed his girlfriend, an 18-year-old Suffield woman.
Jonathon R. Clark, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony, in Portage County Common Pleas Court this week. Judge Laurie Pittman accepted the plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
Clark, who remains free on bond pending sentencing, faces a minimum of probation or between one and three years in prison. Under Ohio law, he also could have his driver's license suspended for a minimum of three years, or up to the rest of his life.
Clark was indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and reckless operation by a Portage County grand jury in May after an Ohio Highway Patrol investigation revealed that he recklessly drove a 1995 Jeep Wrangler on Trares Road on March 6, causing a crash that killed his girlfriend, Alaina T. Ord, 18.
Ord and Clark both were ejected from the vehicle. Ord was pronounced dead at the scene and Clark taken to Akron City Hospital to be treated for injuries suffered in the crash, according to the highway patrol.
