The Kent State University Golden Flashes football team honored Helen Dix on Saturday by wearing the initials "HD" on their helmets in their game against Ball State in Indiana. Helen Dix, whose husband, the late Robert C. Dix, was publisher of the Record-Courier and a member of KSU's Board of Trustees for more than three decades, died Oct. 2. She was 96. KSU's Dix Stadium, the home to the Golden Flashes, was named for Robert C. Dix. A KSU graduate, Mrs. Dix received the KSU Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. A memorial service for Mrs. Dix was held Saturday in Kent. KSU lost to Ball State 27-24. See page B1 for the game story.
