An unidentified man was injured in Kent Monday after he was shot in a hunting accident north of Howe Road between Mogadore and Sunnybrook roads.

Kent police responded to an 8:44 a.m. call Monday that a man was shot. The victim was located and transported to a hospital by the Kent Fire Department. Brimfield and Stow police departments provided assistance in the initial response to the incident.

No information was released by Kent police until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Lt. Jim Prusha, Kent police public information officer, cited an ongoing criminal investigation and said no information was available on the number of or the names of the hunters involved, what hospital the victim was transported to or the status of the shooter.

A report on the incident is not complete at this time, he said, adding that he doesn't believe a shooter is on the loose.

No charges have yet been filed.

The area the incident occurred is in the southernmost point of Kent's city limits on property formerly known as Spring Water Park and is bordered by Brimfield Township.

Prusha said the discharge of firearms within Kent city limits is illegal.
