A Streetsboro woman has been charged with her sixth drunken driving offense in the past 20 years after she was stopped by city police for erratic driving on Frost Road.
Tina M. Smart, 48, of 2115 S.R. 303, allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.384, or nearly five times the legal limit, when stopped on Frost Road near Hannum Drive by Officer Stan Siedlecki at 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to Streetsboro police.
Police said Siedlecki saw Smart's vehicle cross the center and edge lines "multiple times" before stopping her. She was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, a third-degree felony.
Smart has been arrested for drunken driving five times previously, and six arrests in a 20-year period makes the charge a felony under Ohio law.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Portage County Municipal Court, Smart was convicted of drunken driving in Portage County in January 1996, April 1996 and June 1998. She was convicted of felony drunken driving in Summit County one time each in July 1999 and May 2001, the complaint shows.
As of Wednesday, Smart was being held in the Portage County jail in lieu of 10 percent of $15,000 bond. Conditions of her bond include no use or possession of alcohol or drugs, no driving until eligible or valid and use of a SCRAM alcohol intake monitoring bracelet pending future court dates.
Court records did not list an attorney for Smart.
