A rainy day could not dampen the spirits of 35 Kent State University students and members of the McElrath community as they gathered recently to rededicate the Mitchell/McClelland Ballpark located in the McElrath neighborhood of Ravenna Township.
During the past month more than 160 volunteers from the community and university donated more than 450 hours to revitalize the baseball park.
Independent student volunteers as well as students from Kappa Sigma, Men's Baseball and Women's Softball and Chi Omega and Delta Gamma sororities joined community members in the restorative work.
Work included removing sod from the infield, reroofing and painting dugouts and repairing benches.
Rebekkah Berryhill and Heather White of Kent State University Facilities Management and Amy Densevich, athletic academic counselor, received special thanks for their involvement.
Sign-ups for spring youth and adult baseball leagues have begun. Contact Shelley Evans for more information at email@example.com.
