Members of the Portage Community Chapel and the Portage County Sheriff Jail Trustees worked together Thursday to pack 500 Thanksgiving food boxes for families who have registered with the Center of Hope in Ravenna.
The former Paul's Do It Center on North Chestnut Street in Ravenna has been transformed into an assembly and packing facility.
"Without the generosity of David Dix providing (use of) this building, I just don't know what we would have done," said Anne Marie Mann-Noble, director of Emergency Outreach Services for Family & Community Services. "This space offers everything we need to store, pack and distribute to those many families and seniors who need our help this Thanksgiving holiday. The community has been extremely generous in providing us with donations of canned food and turkeys."
The Center of Hope, 1034 W. Main St., Ravenna will hold one final registration for Christmas from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 4.
Also, for those living in the Kent/Franklin Township area, Kent Social Services, 1066 S. Water St., Kent will hold a final registration from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 4.
