Walgreens in Kent and Ravenna has joined the list of stores selling "The Ravenna Record," the book that presents Portage Pathway columns by Record-Courier Editor Roger J. Di Paolo and focuses on the stories of individuals who built Ravenna into the community it is today.

The 414-page book is now available at 11 locations.

According to Jeff Roeger, manager of Walgreens in Kent, the books are now on sale in the two Walgreens stores. He said the Kent store also will sell "Rooted in Kent," the first volume of Portage Pathway columns of Di Paolo published four years ago by the Kent Historical Society.

"Walgreens wants to be part of the community and this is another way we can do that," Roeger said.

Both volumes are compiled from Di Paolo's Portage Pathways columns that have appeared in Sunday's Record-Courier for nearly 15 years.

All proceeds from the sale of "The Ravenna Record," priced at $25, go to the Friends of the Flagpole campaign to repair and restore the historic steel-truss flagpole that stands in front of the Portage County Courthouse in Ravenna.

All proceeds from sthe ale of "Rooted in Kent," priced at $20, go to the Kent Historical Society, which is raising money for the restoration of the roof on Kent's Erie train depot, which houses the Pufferbelly Ltd. restaurant.

"The Ravenna Record" is also being sold in Ravenna at Triangle Pharmacy, Portage Community Bank, Hometown Bank, Copper Kettle Antiques and House of Holiday Ornaments.

In Kent, it is also being sold at McKay Bricker Gallery and the Kent Historical Society along with "Rooted in Kent," Hometown Bank and the Record-Courier, 1050 W. Main St. Hometown Bank is selling the book at its Brimfield office, too.

Di Paolo will be available for a book-signing from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Portage Community Bank's Ravenna office.
