PCJFS employees help kids have bright Christmas

Published:

This Christmas season Santa needed help with shopping for approximately 130 local children who are in the custody of the Portage County Department of Job and Family Services and placed in foster or kinship care homes.

Twenty-five PCJFS employees formed the "Presents for Kids" Committee to handle this project. Committee members made paper bulbs which contained each child's age, gender, sizes and a wish list of up to five gifts. They then distributed the bulbs to fellow agency employees, other county departments, friends, family and other community members.

The "Presents for Kids" Committee and Portage County Department of Job and Family Services thanked the 70 PCJFS employees who helped with purchasing gifts and stockings.

The agency also thanked the generous offices, groups and organizations who 'adopted' children by shopping for them this Christmas, including the Portage County Board of Commissioners, the Veterans Affairs Office, Adult Probation, Judge Giulitto, NEOMED, Edinburg Church of God, Christ Episcopal Church in Kent, United Disability Services, Field Youth Football, James A. Garfield Board Office, and family and friends of the Portage Job and Family Services staff.
