U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown has announced that the Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center is to receive $5.2 million in federal funds to extend sewer and water lines at the training facility in eastern Portage County.
The money is part of the bipartisan Senate-House appropriations deal expected to pass this week.
"This is excellent news for the Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center," Brown said. "By developing its utility infrastucture, Camp Ravenna can grow and bring more jobs to Northeast Ohio."
The infrastructure funding and expansion is crucial to plans by the Ohio National Guard to expand and develop the facility as a major training site.
If this a hole had supported the Arsenal when it was there, we could have put several hundred people to work there. But he played politics instead.
