The right westbound lane of S.R. 14 in Streetsboro between Classic and Singletary drives was closed for more than 12 hours Wednesday because of a water line problem.
Streetsboro Police Lt. Troy Beaver said the lane was shut down shortly after midnight Wenesday and reopened around 1:30 p.m.
"It was probably backed up a little more than usual this morning," he said.
Water Superintendent John Kuklisin said water was turned off for several businesses on either side of S.R. 14 between about 4 and 9 a.m. while repairs to the water line were completed. Shortly before midnight Wednesday, the tap-in saddle valve, which would be used to connect the line from the closed Palms Motel to the main line, fell apart, Kuklisin said.
Beaver said a section of S.R. 14 sustained damage from shifting. That was due to water pressure from the damaged water line.
"The tapping saddle came apart. That goes around the main, so you can hook your service to it," he said. "We just removed the saddle, and put a repair band on it."
