The Summit County Medical Examiner's office has ruled the death of Michelle Johnson, 21, of Maplepark Drive in Stow a homicide.
The cause of death was "sharp force injuries to the neck," according to Gary Guenther of the medical examiner's office.
Johnson's body was found in a shed behind a residence in the 4400 block of Maplepark Drive during a welfare check by Stow police on Saturday.
Johnson's mother called police on Saturday after she hadn't heard from her daughter in two days. She told police she was concerned about her daughter's well-being.
The officer performing the welfare check received no response at the front or rear doors of the home.
The officer then passed by an open shed near the rear of the home and spotted a hand protruding from under a pile of blankets. Upon further inspection, Johnson's body was found.
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Sgt. Steve Dunton at 330-689-5707.
