A severe weather siren test will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Kent area, according to Kent police.
The tests are performed every first and third Wednesday of the month -- at 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday and 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday.
Kent police said residents who hear sirens during severe weather should check their local news station, radio station or weather apps on a smartphone for updates. Kent residents who have registered their phone numbers with the Swiftreach 911 program will receive a pre-recorded message in the event a tornado has been spotted or touched down in the area.
Questions may be directed to the Kent Police Department at 330-673-7732.
