Summit County Executive Russ Pry, Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic and Canton Mayor William J. Healy II had a joint news conference March 24, along with representatives of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Summit County Public Health officials, regarding the federal health care reform law.
Kathleen Falk, Region V director with U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, reminds residents that the enrollment deadline for the Affordable Care Act is March 31.
Pry spoke about the importance of health insurance for all. He encouraged residents to go to their local libraries to get the information needed to enroll and to utilize their computers to sign up for coverage.
Plusquellic said many of Akron's residents have had to forgo food, utilities, and other necessities to pay medical bills, but now with Marketplace coverage, essential health benefits and pre-existing conditions are covered.
