Missing Streetsboro man found dead in Rootstown

By Dave O'Brien | staff writer Published:

The body of a man reported missing by Streetsboro police has been found in a swampy area in Rootstown, not far from where he went missing Saturday night.

Streetsboro police said the body of James J. Goggin, 25, was found at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday in a swamp north of Karry Road in Rootstown, less than a mile from where he was last seen in the 4300 block of Tallmadge Road at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday.

The body was found after a "systematic" search of the area, police said. While there were "no immediate signs of foul play," the death is being investigated by the Portage County Sheriff's Office and the Portage County Coroner's Office.

A message seeking further comment was left for Streetsboro police. Read Wednesday's Record-Courier for more on this story.
