The curved glass-block window at the Venice Cafe in downtown Kent was removed Monday as renovations continue at the East Erie Street landmark. The window, which dated to the 1940s, will be replaced with windows similar to those recently installed on the building, according to Mike Beder, owner of the bar. Glass-block windows flanking the interior doorway will remain. The glass blocks will be donated to the Kent Historical Society for a possible fundraiser, Beder said.
