Threatening graffiti probed at Stow school

Stow Sentry Published:

Police and Stow-Munroe Falls High School administrators are investigating potentially threatening graffiti found in the high school Monday afternoon.

According to a phone call placed to parents Monday night, high school principal Chris DiMauro said administrators and the school resource officer were alerted to the word "bomb" written on a stall in a boys' restroom, followed by the date "5-7-14."

DiMauro said school officials were working with the Stow and Munroe Falls police departments "on several measures of precaution," including a police presence at the high school for the duration of the evening and throughout the night.

Sweeps of the building will take place both today and Wednesday mornings before classes begin.

"Our goal is to balance the difficult task of not overreacting with the diligence necessary to keep our students safe," DiMauro told parents in the phone call. "We do not tolerate these actions and are aggressively pursuing information leading to the person responsible."
