Crooked River Adventures kicks off its fifth season on May 17 as part of the River Day celebration. The canoe and kayak livery, based out of Tannery Park in Kent, Ohio, will offer six paddling trips every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this summer. Trips are also available during the week on a reservation basis for groups of five or more.
A unique program called Paddle the Parks will return for the 2014 season. Paddle the Parks allows participants to experience the Cuyahoga River with a naturalist from Metro Parks Serving Summit County as their guide. This guided paddling program teaches participants about the environment and wildlife surrounding the river.
Crooked River Adventures will also offer three Full Moon Floats this year. These late-night trips allow participants to observe nocturnal wildlife. Canoes and kayaks are available for the 2-mile trip. Full Moon Floats will take place on June 13, July 12 and Aug. 10. Space is limited.
New this year, Crooked River Adventures will serve as a pick up and drop off point for equipment rentals from the Outdoor Rental Center at Kent State University. The Outdoor Rental Center features hundreds of pieces of adventure equipment at affordable prices. Special packages are available for backpacking, biking, camping and paddling. A full inventory lis is available online.
Crooked River Adventures' seasonal operating hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Reservations are not required on the weekend, but they are highly recommended.
