Highway Patrol to 'Can the Cruiser' Saturday in Rootstown

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is planning a Can the Cruiser Saturday at the Rootstown Giant Eagle, seeking donations of food items for the benefit of the Randolph/Suffield/Atwater food shelf.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the patrol will have a display and will be passing out list of items of need as people enter the store. The patrol's "Teddy Trooper" will be on scene to greet the public.

Sarchione Ford and Chevy are sponsoring the vehicle to pull the food shelf trailer that will be on display.

Items suggested for donation include: boxed or bagged cereal, dry pasta, peanut butter, boxed potatoes (i.e., scalloped or mashed or canned), Tuna Helper or skillet meals, canned vegetables, personal care items (toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo), canned fruits, household items (dish and laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper), canned soups.
