For more than 35 years, Kent Junior Mothers has hosted Safety School for incoming Kent kindergarteners. The organization is accepting Safety School applications for kindergartners enrolling in fall 2014.
The goal of Safety School is to help children evaluate "safe" from "unsafe" when confronted with potentially dangerous situations.
Using hands-on activities, the program will help teach children many safety lessons, including stranger danger, fire safety, riding a school bus, pedestrian safety, etc. Songs, games, stories and art projects reinforce the lessons.
Safety School will run 9 a.m. to noon July 14-18 at Longcoy Elementary School. Applications can be obtained at www.kentschools.net or on the Kent Junior Mothers' Facebook page.
Registration fee is $25, but tuition waivers are available for students who qualify for financial assistance. Completed applications should be returned, along with the registration fee, to Kent Junior Mothers, P.O. Box 3041 Kent, OH 44240.
