State Patrol investigating fatal crash on Turnpike in Hudson

The Hiram Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating two-vehicle roll-over crash that left one man dead on the Ohio Turnpike in Hudson on Thursday.

According to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, the victim was eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike in Hudson when he was involved in a crash with another vehicle. The report states that he victim's vehicle rolled over and he was partially ejected. The victim, who was described as an "elderly male," was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office.

The victim has not been identified. The Highway Patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the other vehicle was Douglas Coward, 24, of Ravenna. He was taken to Akron City Hospital where he is being treated for a back injury. Also injured were Elizabeth Coward, 50, and her daughter, Linsey K. Guinaugh, 15. Both were occupants of Douglas Coward's vehicle and were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
