The Parkman Road bridge over Eagle Creek in Nelson Township closed for reconstruction on June 12.
The design of the new structure, located just north of Silica Sand Road, is finished and construction should be complete and the road open to traffic by the end of August.
The Board of Portage County Commissioners recently awarded a design/build contract for the design and construction of the replacement structure to R&I Construction Company out of Tiffin, Ohio.
The contractor is responsible for both the design and construction of the new bridge.
The contract amount of $671,142 will be offset by an 80 percent federal grant obtained by the county engineer's office.
Portage County Engineer Michael Marozzi said a local detour around the bridge will be posted. If there are any questions from the public about the project, they should contact Anthony Zumbo, project manager, at 330-296-6411.
