Still need a few more tomato or pepper plants? How about mature, garden-ready squash or melon plants? Or some colorful annuals for your home?
Battaglia's Nursery in Brimfield has donated its remaining spring garden stock to the Portage County Sheriff's Office, which will be taking donations for the plants on Saturday.
The plants include vegetables and a large variety of summer annuals including petunias and begonias of all colors.
Major Dale Kelly said money raised by the event will be donated to the Children's Advocacy Center at Robinson memorial Hospital in Ravenna and the Burn Institute at Akron Children's Hospital.
Kelly said the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or as long as there are plants left. "People can pick what they want and make a donation," he said.
The Children's Advocacy Center was established to provide a comfortable, safe environment and specially trained staff to protect and help children who are victims of sexual abuse.
The center is accredited by the National Children's Alliance.
The Burn Institute at Akron Children's Hospital provides specialized care for burn victims of all ages throughout northeast Ohio.
