Students at Suffield Elementary concluded the school year with and Olympics style games day at Field High School stadium. With a focus on leadership next school year, students wore their new "Leader" T-shirts. Students at the various grade levels wore colors and supported their own "country." At the Opening Ceremonies, students paraded carrying their country's flag, walking to the country's National Anthem. Students Matthew Hall and Aisley Herndon, this year's citizenship award winners, led the events by carrying the Olympic torch. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, the games began with fun activities at the various countries. Bocce ball in Italy and potato shot put in Ireland were some of the "country" related events. "It was an awesome day, supported by so many," Principal Shawn Bookman said. "Teachers developed the games and activities and the parents supported with their volunteerism. It was the first time we tried something like this, but the kids had a blast and really thought they were special, traveling to the high school."
