A Ravenna High School freshman riding his bike to school was hit by a car Friday morning, district officials said.
The boy was riding his bike in front of the school when the collision happened, Superintendent Dennis Honkala said Friday at the annual Balloon A-Fair breakfast. The boy had non-life threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital.
High school Principal Beth Coleman was with the boy at the hospital, district officials said.
The Ravenna School District also announced the news on its Facebook page.
"This is a sad piece of news, and we ask that everyone respect the family and all those involved by not commenting without information as details are not fully gathered," the statement read. "Instead, let's focus our thoughts on prayers for the injured student and for the many lives impacted by this accident."
A message seeking additional details on the collision was left Friday with the Ravenna Police Department.
