A Ravenna Township man has been indicted by a Portage County grand jury on rape charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman during an incident in April in Ravenna.

Vincent J. Donato, 34, of 7271 Creekside Court, was indicted Sept. 9 on two counts of rape, both first-degree felonies. Arraigned Sept. 15 in Portage County Common Pleas Court, Donato pleaded not guilty to the charges against him before Judge Laurie Pittman.

Pittman ordered Donato jailed on $200,000 cash or surety bond, and set a preliminary trial date for Oct. 25, according to court records.

The grand jury indictment alleges that on or about April 14 in Ravenna, Donato raped a 37-year-old woman by force or threat of force.

Donato has multiple prior arrests for domestic violence, including one on May 30 in which he was charged with a third-degree felony.
