Portage County Safe Communities, the law firm of Elk & Elk and numerous co-sponsors once again will host the "None 4 Under 21 and Choices Beyond Program" on Tuesday at Hiram College.
The two-hour event is the 15th annual presentation. Approximately 1,800 high school seniors from Portage County and neighboring counties will hear speakers and see presentations about choices and consequences of drunken, drugged or distracted drivings. The program also includes a mock traffic crash, a mock funeral and a "Walk of Remembrance" with 11 area families honoring their loved ones killed in traffic crashes.
The program includes speakers including Marc Streem of Rootstown, who lost his 14-year-old son Ryan to a car crash, along with Aaron Cooksey, who killed his best friend in an alcohol-related traffic crash. An Ohio prison inmate, currently serving a sentence for aggravated vehicular homicide, drunken driving, and leaving the scene of a crash, also will appear.
