A Summit County grand jury has indicted a Streetsboro man on murder and felonious assault charges following the March 20 shooting death of a 24-year-old Akron man, a person he believed stole a family member's dirt bike.

William Knight, 63, of Lady Catherine Street, is charged with two counts each of murder, both unclassified felonies, and felonious assault, both second-degree felonies. All the charges come with attached firearms specifications, which could add three additional, mandatory years in prison to each charge if Knight is convicted.

Knight is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, April 19, in Summit County Common Pleas Court.

According to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh, Knight allegedly shot and killed Keith Johnson after confronting him over the theft of his son-in-law's Yamaha dirt bike, reported stolen in February 2016.

After seeing the dirt bike for sale online, Knight's son-in-law, Curtis Gill, contacted Johnson. Title in hand, he went to retrieve the $4,000 bike along with his wife, Michelle, and Knight, who was armed, Akron police said.

Johnson apparently demanded payment for the dirt bike, and an argument erupted, police said. Curtis Gill grabbed Johnson and the bike, and Johnson allegedly tried to flee atop the bike in Michelle Gill's direction.

Knight fired his gun, and a bullet struck Johnson in the head near his right eye, killing him, Walsh said.

Knight told a 911 dispatcher "I shot him. It's dark; I think I shot him in the chest."

"I had to (shoot Johnson), he was trying to run into my daughter," Knight said, according to the recorded call.

How many levels of bad jusdgement does this dummy have?

Sets up his own sting operation.. Unstead of calling the police..

Takes a gun not knowing who he is dealing with.. Alsmost looking for trouble..

Then, he takes his daughter along just for kicks.. SMH!!

Its so ridiculous that he probably has a good shot at an insanity defense..
