Les Smeach, partner for Kent-based certified public accounting firm Schlabig & Associates, Ltd, has been appointed to serve on the Portage County Regional Airport Authority Board of Trustees by Portage County commissioners. His term on the board, which began earlier this month, runs through June 30, 2020.
Smeach, a certified public accountant and certified valuation analyst, has been a member of Schlabig & Associates since 1990. His responsibilities include providing tax planning and consulting, management consulting and accounting and auditing-related services for the Ohio-based businesses and individuals the company serves.
"Les brings a wealth of expertise in the areas of accounting, consulting and taxes to the PCRAA Board of Trustees," said Tom Hager, managing partner of Schlabig. "As a successful business leader in Portage County, I believe he will provide valuable insight."
During his career, Smeach has earned an Accreditation in Business Valuation and Certification in Financial Forensics, both issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a certified valuation analyst as recognized by The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is a member of several organizations for accounting professionals, including the AICPA and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
He is currently a member of the Cascade Capital Corporation, an economic development finance company that provides dependable financing options for companies in Greater Akron and Northeastern Ohio.
A graduate of Kent State University and a resident of Rootstown, he was raised in Garrettsville. Smeach also has been active in the surrounding community, formerly serving as a Rootstown trustee for eight years.
