Community cleanup starts today in Ravenna

The city of Ravenna will host its annual community cleanup on Saturdays in May and June.

Residents should place items small enough to be handled by two people at the curb, no earlier than four days prior to their scheduled pickup date. Accepted items include furniture, electronics, toys, bikes, carpet and mattresses. Scrap metal should be placed in a pile with appliances. Building material will be collected in small amounts if it is contained for easy handling.

Prohibited items include household garbage, tires and batteries, large quantities of construction material, bricks, blocks, concrete or railroad ties, chemicals, paint or material containing asbestos.

Items will be picked up today in Ward 1 (north of Main Street and west of Chestnut Street.

The pickup will be May 20 for Ward 2 (North of Main and east of Chestnut;) on June 10 for Ward 3 (south of Main and west of Chestnut) and June 17 for Ward 4 (south of Main and east of Chestnut.)
