Garrettsville -- Highway Patrol officials say they are searching for the driver of a 2009 Mazda who reportedly fled the scene after crashing into a telephone pole on State Route 305 Saturday morning.
The Ravenna post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call for a single-vehicle crash at 8 a.m. on S.R. 305, between Parkman Road and S.R. 282. The driver was gone when officers arrived.
Dispatch said there is an ongoing investigation into who the driver is and what caused the driver to crash. They believe the vehicle crossed the center line, went off the roadway and crashed into the pole.
The road was closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday as Ohio Edison removed live electrical wires from the roadway.
Highway Patrol on Saturday evening confirmed they are continuing to search for the driver of the vehicle. Anyone with information on the crash or the driver should call the Ravenna Post at 330-297-1441.
