Congratulations to Streetsboro Elementary School students Savannah "Zee" Fineran and and Katie Robinson on being chosen as the Streetsboro Community PTA's Shining Stars for May.
Zee is in second grade at Streetsboro Elementary School. She was born in Michigan but moved to Ohio seven years ago. She resides with her mom and step-father, Shanda Crowe and Bryan Mcfall; sister, Alexyss; and step-brother, Kailer.
Her father, Michael Fineran, also lives in the area. Zee has a cat named Sam and a dog whose name is Kara.
Zee enjoys playing soccer, takes dance lessons at Roberts Conservatory and will be giving Running Rockets a try this summer. In her spare time, she plays on her trampoline and tablet.
"Zee is always happy and willing to help," said Shanda. "She is very outgoing and gets along with anyone who crosses her path. At home, she loves to play with her siblings."
In school, her favorite subject is math because it's challenging. Zee's teacher, Amy Eibler, recognizes how hard she has worked this year.
"She has become a role model for her classmates," said Eibler. "One of Zavannah's best qualities is she never gives up; she perseveres."
Zee really likes animals, and when she grows up she would like to become a veterinarian.
Katie has lived in Streetsboro for nine years with her parents, John and Jennifer; brother Colin; and dog Sammy. She is active in Girl Scouts, enjoys making kindness rocks, swimming and roller blading.
Katie also is part of the Streetsboro United U9 soccer team. Something that many people may not know about Katie is that she is a roller coaster enthusiast. Cedar Point is one of her favorite destinations in the summer.
Katie's teacher, Marisa Cortes, recognizes her outstanding qualities.
"Katie is a positive role model who is always upbeat and respectful," said Cortes. "I enjoy seeing her smile each and everyday."
In school, her favorite subject is science because she can learn about real life things and do experiments. She also enjoys art because there are not right or wrong answers.
"Katie is kind-hearted, compassionate and everyone's friend," said Jennifer, her mom. "She has this natural ability to cheer people up. She really wants everyone to be included and accepted." When Katie grows up, she would like to become a marine biologist or an artist.
