Registration open for park's Headwaters race in Mantua

Registration is now open for the Portage Park District Foundation's annual Headwaters Adventure Race at 8 a.m. July 8 in Mantua to support trail maintenance and conservation projects.

The event starts at Buchert Memorial Park and includes a 2-mile run on the Headwaters Trail, a 10-mile bike ride on rural roads to Camp Hi Canoe Livery in Hiram and ends with a 5-mile paddle on the Upper Cuyahoga Scenic River back to Mantua. The route passes by nature preserves, historic sites and preserved farmland.

Go solo or grab a friend to form a relay or all-phase team. Entry fee is $49, with students 18 and under $29. Kayak and canoe rentals are available for $10 per person.

@Mmerchant...What "big spenders"??

Those in charge of spending the cash....

Do some investigative reporting...

Start with the Head Leader....or, try to find the budget on the Park District website...I couldn't find the budget figures, payroll, salaries/benefits, number of employees, new vehicles, land grabs, posted...

ATTENTION VOTERS: Fund Raisers Needed....!!!

Levy money is not enough for the big spenders to maintain the parks....

What will they do when the levy fails the next time it's on the ballot..???
