Through June 30, the Stark County Sheriff's Office will take a special focus on impaired drivers with increased enforcement and patrols throughout the county.
Thanks to a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety's Ohio Traffic Safety Office, an additional 120 hours of special enforcement will take place through the end of the month, Sheriff George T. Maier announced.
"Impaired driving is a serious concern in our country and in Stark County," Maier said, announcing the special enforcement. "Every day 28 people die and every two minutes a person is injured in an impaired driving crash in the United States. In face, on average, two out of three people will be involved in an impaired driver crash in their lifetime."
