Retired Portage County Sheriff's Office K-9 Bronco died Monday afternoon after battling health problems, the Portage County Drug Task Force said.

Task force commander Larry Limbert said before he passed, Bronco got one last ride in a police cruiser with his partner, sheriff's detective Kevin Nicolino. The 14-year-old K-9 retired approximately one year ago, and had suffered from hip problems, Limbert said.

Task force officers, Aurora, Streetsboro, Kent State University and Willoughby police officers, sheriff's deputies and DEA agents also gathered Monday for a brief memorial to the retired K-9, Limbert said.
