A two-car crash Tuesday morning on S.R. 261 in Kent sent one motorist to Akron City Hospital, Kent police said.
Kent police Lt. Michael Lewis said an 81-year-old female driver was making a left turn from S.R. 261 southbound onto Sunnybrook Road when she struck an eastbound semi truck.
The Kent Fire Department transported the woman to Akron City Hospital with unknown injuries, Lewis said.
The collision pierced a diesel fuel tank on the truck, causing fuel to leak onto the roadway and then off the paved surface, he said. The vehicles were towed from the roadway and the fuel spill handled by clean-up crews, Lewis said.
S.R. 261 was closed for a time while police investigated and crews cleaned up the scene.
Construction on the bridge over Plum Creek, part of a $1.8 million Ohio Department of Transportation project, will continue to create traffic delays in the area through September.
